Position SummaryContinuous Improvement Organization Position. Lead and set the strategic direction, management and implementation of innovation portfolios focused on creating business value by becoming a fully digitally enabled utility. Responsible for driving business value by improving productivity, efficiency and effectiveness through the innovative application of digital technology and data, establishing portfolio governance including program and financial management, establishing and measuring key performance metrics, and identifying, analyzing and acting on key trends. Direct the strategy and management of external partnerships specific to innovation. Establish the data governance strategies for Xcel Energy, maximizing the returns on the portfolios specific to robotics, artificial intelligence, automation, virtual reality, and advanced analytics.Essential Responsibilities Creating Business Value: Drive innovation across the robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and advanced analytics portfolios to implement effective and efficient operational improvements. Employ best-in-class portfolio management practices including business case development and identifying appropriate accountabilities to optimize all people, process, data, and tool component implementations. Ensure program risk management processes are in place to effectively manage scope, financial, schedule, regulatory, compliance, and public acceptance risk.Collaboration and Alignment: Work enterprise-wide with executives, directors and others to ensure strategic alignment across business units including enabling organizations. Improve commitment to enterprise innovation efforts by utilizing a framework for prioritizing and managing innovation demand across portfolios. Assist in strategic planning efforts to ensure enterprise alignment in support of the corporation s strategies.Change Leadership: Embed change management methodologies and supporting processes within the innovation portfolio aligned with corporate culture objectives while driving organizational health, effectiveness, and efficiency improvements. Methodologies should include: communications, training, role modeling, engagement activities, and incentives. Monitor overall program change activities; escalate issues as needed. Ensure change resource plans can be effective at all levels, and lessons learned are effectively applied to subsequent efforts.Innovation: Develop and consistently improve internal and external relationships including Xcel Energy leaders/teams and external partners. Ensure Xcel Energy has access to cutting edge innovations and research. Balance risk and reward appropriate for innovation portfolios. Maintain current knowledge regarding industry trends and initiate benchmarking efforts where appropriate.Minimum Requirements Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business or related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience10 years related experience, including five years managing complex portfolios or transformational change initiatives (people, process, data, tools)Business/technical working knowledge of financial and economic analysis, accounting systems, taxes, regulatory and legislative frameworks, and engineering principles.Strong background in program/project managementDemonstrated ability to lead change, communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences including senior management, and manage complex matrix organizations _______________________________________________________________________________________________ As a leading combination electricity and natural gas energy company, Xcel Energy offers a comprehensive portfolio of energy-related products and services to 3.4 million electricity and 1.9 million natural gas customers across eight Western and Midwestern states.
